Elisabeth Moss Reveals 'Handmaid's Tale' Season 2 Details on THR Golden Globes Aftershow

Earlier in the night, Moss took home the award for best actress in a drama for her performance as Offred in the dystopian series.

Fresh off a Golden Globes win for best actress for her performance in The Handmaid’s Tale, Elisabeth Moss teased what’s to come in season two of Hulu’s dystopian drama during The Hollywood Reporter‘s awards aftershow.

Moss revealed the cast and crew are currently halfway through production on the show’s next season, which she described in three words as “inspiring, gut-wrenching” and an example of “resistance.”

“We’re literally in the middle of episodes seven and eight,” she said, adding that she has a scheduled phone call with creator Bruce Miller to discuss how the series’ last five episodes will play out. “We are heavy in the throes of it.”

The actress also explained why she dedicated her time at the podium to reciting the inspiring words of author Margaret Atwood.

“I’m a 35-year-old woman in this world and I’ve led a somewhat privileged life compared to other people, but the things that we talk about in the show and the things that Margaret Atwood wrote in that book are important to me as a woman,” she said.

“With the Time’s Up movement, it was really important for me to clearly say what I wanted to say. I didn’t want to stumble, I didn’t want to mess it up, I didn’t want to regret it later because this is so important to me. … I wanted to get it right.”

In addition to Moss’ best actress win, The Handmaid’s Tale also took home the award for best TV drama series.

THR‘s aftershow, launched for the first time this year in partnership with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, also featured interviews with I, Tonya‘s Allison Janney, This Is Us‘ Sterling K. Brown and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri actor Sam Rockwell, all winners on the night.

Seth Meyers hosted the 75th annual Golden Globe Awards, which took place at the Beverly Hilton on Jan. 7.
