The Michelle Dockery drama will return in the fall.
TNT is recommitting to one of its freshman dramas.
The Turner network has renewed Good Behavior for a second season, it was announced Saturday at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.
Based on the Letty Dobesh books by Blake Crouch, the drama stars Michelle Dockery as Letty, a thief and con artist fresh out of prison trying to stay afloat and reunite with her young son.
Crouch exec produces with Chad Hodge, who serves as showrunner Marty Adelstein (Prison Break) and Becky Clements (Last Man Standing) of ITV’s Tomorrow Studios.
“Fueled by unsinkable characters on a dangerous search for belonging, love and family, Good Behavior is addictive television,” said TNT evp, original programming Sarah Aubrey. “Millions of viewers have fallen hard for this sexy, complicated couple, and in season two, Letty and Javier will give us plenty more to obsess about.”
Coming in just below other TNT original dramas, at least in traditional measurements, Good Behavior typically earns around 1.5 million viewers once live-plus-three day lifts are factored. However, as it has with its other young dramas, TNT made sure to tout multiplatform viewing for Good Behavior in its pickup announcement Saturday. According to the cabler, Good Behavior has reached an average of 4.4 million viewers per episode across TNT’s digital and mobile platforms.
The drama has earned lukewarm but largely favorable reviews with THR TV critic Tim Goodman singling out Dockery’s “virtuoso performance.”
The renewal helps further cement TNT’s creative overhaul under president Kevin Reilly, which also includes Animal Kingdom, in addition to returning series The Last Ship, Major Crimes and The Librarians. Reilly has also found success with a similar makeover at TBS, where he canceled the net’s slate of multicam comedies and replaced them with critically praised single-cam entries like People of Earth and Search Party.
TNT’s upcoming scripted swings include the Will Shakespeare drama Will, nail salon dramedyClawsand sci-fi seris The Alienist.
