The CW to develop new adventure drama series The Cove

Variety reports that The CW network is currently in the process of developing a new family adventure drama series The Cove. The new show is created by Chad Fiveash and James Stoteraux (The Vampire Diaries) together with Academy Award winner Robert Zemeckis’ Compari Entertainment and Warner Bros. Televison.

The Cove is set to be an hour-long dauntless adventure drama that follows the story of estranged sisters in the aftermath of their father’s death as they return to the Caribbean resort island they frequently go to as a family, only to discover that the island paradise is hiding many secrets which includes the missing treasure that their father was obsessed about and may ultimately hold the key to eternal life.

The series is written and executive produced by Fiveash and Stoteraux. Zemeckis and Rapke along with Jackie Levine will serve as executive producers for Compari Entertainment, which produces in association with Warner Bros. TV through its WBTV Deal.

Fiveash and Stoteraux have previously worked on various projects such as: The Vampire Diaries which starred Nina Dobrev, Ian Somehalder and Paul Wesley; Krypton which had its season one premiere last March 21; and ABC’s Switch at Birth which ran on air for five seasons.

Zemeckis is best known for directing and producing many iconic movies such as: Back to the Future Trilogy starring Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly; the 2001 horror film Thirteen Ghosts; Cast Away and Forrest Gump which both starred award-winning actor Tom Hanks with Forrest Gump earning Zemeckis an Academy Award for Best Director. His next film project is the film Welcome to Marwen starring Steve Carell, Leslie Mann and Diane Kruger.
