Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker takes $90 million Friday

After pulling in an impressive haul of $40 million on its opening Thursday night, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has seen a strong Friday at the box office with just over $90 million earned domestically, putting it on track to earn $193.7 million over the weekend, putting it behind The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi.

While the haul is below its predecessors, it still puts it on the path to becoming a box office hit and making it the third best domestic opening for a Lucastilm project since Disney’s acquisition of the production banner.
