It’s Warner Bros. turn to play the Release Date Shuffle, moving around some of their upcoming films and planting flags for the future. Deadline reports that among them is the highly anticipated Space Jam 2 release date, will debut on July 16, 2021. The film will arrive in-between Indiana Jones 5 on July 9 and Mission: Impossible 7 on July 23.

Space Jame 2 will star LeBron James instead of Michael Jordan with Black Panther director Ryan Coogler onboard to produce. Terence Nance (Random Acts of Flyness, The Oversimplification of Her Beauty) is set to direct instead of Justin Lin (Fast & Furious franchise) who was one of the directors originally attached to the project.

Further changes to the WB release schedule include the Untitled Annabelle 3, previously set for July 3 of this year, will now debut on June 28. The film now opens against Universal’s Yesterday and Paramount’s Limited Partners.

The untitled Annabelle 3 will once again center around the titular demon doll but this time she is already in the possession of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. Mckenna Grace will play the role of Judy Warren, daughter of the paranormal investigating couple who is targeted alongside her two teen babysitters by the demonic doll within the Warren’s artifact room. Madison Iseman and Katie Sarife are set to play Judy Warren’s babysitters.

Next summer’s long awaited rematch of Godzilla vs. Kong will also arrive sooner than expected, the film was set for a May 22, 2020 release but will now smash into theaters on March 13, 2020. The only other film on that release date is 20th Century Fox’s long in-development Gambit movie, which most likely will not come to fruition.

In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.

Godzilla Vs. Kong stars Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Eiza González, Jessica Henwick, Julian Dennison, Kyle Chandler, Demián Bichir and Lance Reddick.
