Pop Culture Quest Trailer Has Mark Hamill Hunting for Memorabilia

Star Wars icon Mark Hamill is no stranger to Comic Con, having attended the massive convention for several years both as a fan and to promote his movies. The actor will be teaming up with Comic Con once again for a new reality TV series entitled Pop Culture Quest, which is set to debut this fall on Comic Con HQ, the organization’s new streaming service. The actor will be hosting and executive producing the series, while will explore the culture of the collector.

Production begins in June, after Mark Hamill wraps production on Star Wars: Episode VIII. The documentary-style series will feature authentic stories about fans and their collections. Hamill is an avid collector himself, collecting comic books, toys, lunch boxes, records, puppets, original artwork, and much more since the early 1970s. Here’s what Hamill had to say in a statement about the series.

“I’ve been a collector all my life. This show is a natural outgrowth of that passion. Now I have an opportunity to collect other people’s collections! I can’t wait to see what’s out there and share it with the world. Collectibles are a living history of who and what we are, so we just might learn something…but there’s no doubt we’re going to have fun!”

Mark Hamill will executive produce the series with Howard Kazanjian, who executive produced Return of the Jedi and Raiders of the Lost Ark, along with Darren Moorman (Same Kind of Different as Me) and longtime collector and vintage show promoter Scott Kinney. Comic Con HQ hasn’t announced when exactly the show will premiere on the streaming service quite yet. Here’s what Seth Laderman, EVP and General Manager, Comic-Con HQ, had to say in his statement.

“From the moment I started talking with Mark about this idea over three years ago, his enthusiasm was infectious. It had such an impact on me that after I came to Comic-Con HQ, my first call was to him and his team about how to bring this show to our community. Passion is at the heart of all of our original series, with a goal to allow innovators like Mark the opportunity to create and bring their ideas to life. We couldn’t be happier to help Mark’s show find a home.”

It isn’t known how many episodes of this series Comic Con HQ has ordered, but it seems likely that Mark Hamill and the show will have a huge presence at San Diego Comic Con this July. We’ll be sure to keep you posted with more details on Pop Culture Quest as soon as we have more information.
