Evil is a series about the battle between science and religion. It focuses on Kristen Benoist (Herbers), a skeptical female clinical psychologist who joins David Dacosta (Colter), a Catholic priest-in-training, and a blue-collar contractor as they investigate supposed miracles, demonic possessions, and other extraordinary occurrences to see if there’s a scientific explanation or if something truly supernatural is at work.

Colter’s Dacosta is tasked by the Church to assess unexplained phenomena to see if there is a supernatural or scientific explanation, while Emerson will play the seemingly kind and trustworthy Townsend, a witness in a mass murder case who may actually be hiding an evil side that pushes his followers to acts of violence and murder.

Herbers has been making her way onto American screens over the past few years with roles on hit shows including the acclaimed yet short-lived drama Manhattan, FX’s The Americans, and the HBO dramas The Leftovers and Westworld, for which she had a key supporting role in the second season.

Colter previously starred in the titular role on the recently canceled Marvel’s Luke Cage for Netflix. His credits also include Extinction, The Good Wife, The Defenders, Jessica Jones, Agent X, and The Following. He is currently filming Deon Taylor’s Black and Blue and stars in the upcoming features Breakthrough, Fatale, Skin, and Before We Know It.

Emerson, who has had handfuls of film roles in projects including the original Saw and The Legend of Zorro, is most-known for his work on the small screen with key roles in the ABC legal drama The Practice, for which he earned a Primetime Emmy, the acclaimed sci-fi mystery thriller Lost, for which he won his second Emmy, and the CBS espionage technological thriller Person of Interest.
