More news for Matt Reeve’s upcoming The Batman! According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael Giacchino (Spider-Man: Far From Home) has agreed to compose the latest bat flick, and did so in a rather theatrical way, which you can watch in the video below.

While attending an event at London’s Royal Albert Hall, Reeves took to the stage, got down on one knee and asked Giacchino to compose his film. Of course the composer, who has scored Cloverfield, Let Me In, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and War for the Planet of the Apes for Reeves, agreed to the delight of a surprised audience.

Giacchino is the latest composer to tackle the Batman following Danny Elfman, Elliot Goldenthal, Shirley Walker, Hans Zimmer & James Newton Howard, and Junkie XL.

Golden Globe nominee Paul Dano (Little Miss Sunshine, There Will Be Blood, 12 Years a Slave) is set to play Riddler, while Jeffrey Wright (Westworld) will take on the role of Commissioner Gordon and Zoe Kravitz (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald) has signed on to play Catwoman. Robert Pattinson will star as the titular hero.

The Batman has been in development at Warner Bros. since 2015 when Ben Affleck signed on to the DCEU. Matt Reeves (War for the Planet of the Apes) signed on to helm about a month after Affleck’s directorial departure with the added caveat that he’d get to rewrite the script from scratch.
