Latin version of ’60s hit California Dreamin’ plays over gory scenes in upcoming splatter satire The Belko Experiment

We are yuge fans of the Greg McLean (Wolf Creek) directed, James Gunn (Dawn of the Dead, Guardians of the Galaxy) written gonzo gore satire The Belko Experiment (read our review out of TIFF here) and are excited for more dry eyeballs to see it when it is released on March 17th in theaters and on digital platforms from Orion/BH Tilt.

But the original soundtrack album will be released this Friday, January 27th on the Lakeshore Records label and it’s filled with a unique Latin flavor, seeing as the bloody, frenzied film is set in Bogota, Columbia.

We have your first listen of the lead single from the album, a lazy, sunny Spanish language version of the classic Mamas and the Papas ’60s hit “California Dreamin’” sung by noted vocalist Gabriela Terán. The track is ironically placed in the film during a montage of brain bashing violence and carnage, creating a sense of uncomfortably humorous quease and unease. The rest of the album features the icy original electronic score by composer Tyler Bates.

Have a listen…

The Belko Experiment blends Lord of the Flies, The Office and Battle Royale in a twisted tale about a social experiment in which 80 Americans are locked in their high-rise corporate office in Bogotá, Colombia and ordered by an unknown voice coming from the company’s intercom system to participate in a deadly game of kill or be killed. Ample ultra (and we mean ultra) violence ensues.

Once again, The Belko Experiment splats onto screens everywhere on March 17th. See it, suckers!
