Legends of Tomorrow Season 4 Episode 5 Recap

This week’s episode of Legends of Tomorrow opens with Ray still attempting to find a cure for Constantine after he sacrificed part of his life force to save a young camper in the previous episode. Ray believes that because Constantine’s deterioration is the result of magic, the only thing that can cure him is magic. Ray also thinks that Nora Darhk might be the one person who could help, but he doesn’t know where to find her. Sarah suggests they look right under the Time Bureau’s nose, in 2018.

The Dahrkness Within

Legends of Tomorrow Season 4 Episode 5

Ray finds Nora working at a renaissance faire, where she is treated horribly by the drunk male attendees. Ray brings Nora on board the Waverider and explains Constantine’s condition to her. Nora says that she could help Constantine, but is afraid to do so. Her father sacrificed himself to give Nora a second chance. She is afraid to give into the power she has, which calls to her constantly, for fear of sliding back into evil.

Ray figures that life force is just energy, and instead of Nora having to steal life force in order to give it to Constantine, she can siphon energy from the ship, convert it to life force, and feed it to Constantine. Constantine tells her that if she does this, Nora will be all-in as far as magic goes. He tells her that if she does this, to do it for herself, not for him nor for Ray. Using her powers for good, Nora is no longer afraid of them anymore.

Ray tells Nora to take the time stone and run. Nora teleports herself and Ray to the Time Bureau, where she is arrested. The only way she can be free is to pay for her past sins and make things right again.

Tagumo Attacks

Legends of Tomorrow Season 4 Episode 5

Meanwhile, Sarah, Charlie, Zari, and Mick investigate an anomaly in 1951 Tokyo. A film director has found an artifact that makes his inspirations real. Having survived and toured the ruins of Hiroshima, the director conjures a giant, radioactive octopus as a way to help himself deal with the horror he has witnessed. But now, Tagumo is coming to destroy Tokyo.

The team’s attempts to deal with the monster prove futile. Mick, suffering from writer’s block and unable to finish his novel, bonds with the artifact and writes a new ending of the Tagumo story. Mick summons Garima, the three-breasted warrior queen from his novel to defeat Tagumo. With his own fear conquered, Mick is able to finish his story.
