Kristen Wiig drops out of Apple comedy series

Saturday Night Live veteran Kristen Wiig has decided to exit the yet-to-be titled Apple comedy series due to scheduling conflicts with the upcoming Wonder Woman 1984 as The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Based on Curtis Sittenfeld’s upcoming short-story collection You Think It, I’ll Say It  the currently-untitled series was created by Colleen McGuinness (30 Rock), who will also serve as showrunner and executive producer alongside Wiig, Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter. Sittenfeld will also serve as a consulting producer.

Principle photography has already begun for Wonder Woman 1984 in Washington, D.C., as can be seen here, where Kristen Wiig will play her first villainous role, Cheetah. Along with Wiig the film stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, and Padro Pascal who might also be a villain. Production will take place in Washington, D.C., Alexandria, Virginia, and in the UK, Spain and the Canary Islands. Wonder Woman 1984 will open in theaters on November 1, 2019.

Apple’s upcoming slate includes Are You Sleeping starring Octavia Spencer, a morning show drama starring Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston, an Amazing Stories reboot from Steven Spielberg, a Ronald D. Moore space drama, a Damien Chazelle series, a world-building drama titled See from Steven Knight and Francis Lawrence, an M. Night Shyamalan psychological thriller, the immigration-themed anthology series Little America from Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon, the comedy Dickinson starring Hailee Steinfeld, and the romantic dramedy Little Voice produced by J.J. Abrams.
