Game of Thrones Episode 6.2 Preview: Homeward Bound

The season 6 premiere of Game of Thrones aired tonight which answered tons of speculative questions about key players, but posed just as many new ones by the episode end. Seeing Jon Snow’s corpse brought up some dormant emotions, but there seems to be hope with Melisandre being a stone’s throw away from his dead body. That said, we probably won’t be getting any satisfaction until the season end.

HBO is now teasing next week’s episode entitled “Home”, in which, by the looks of thing seems that many key players in Westeros who have been displaced in one way or another, will be making their way home. Whether that means trials by fire, slicing and dicing, or even a rebirth, there is one thing that we all can count on: the series will unfold like no episodic storytelling has ever done before. You can check out what to expect next week in the video below.

Season 6 is based on the hitherto unreleased sixth novel of the A Song of Ice and Fire book series, The Winds of Winter, along with a significant amount of material from the fourth and fifth books, A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons, which run concurrently but follow different sets of characters. The War of the Five Kings, once thought to be drawing to a close, is instead entering a new and more chaotic phase. Westeros is on the brink of collapse, and many are seizing what they can while the realm implodes, like a corpse making a feast for crows.

Summers span decades. Winters can last a lifetime. And the struggle for the Iron Throne continues. It stretches from the south, where heat breeds plots, lusts and intrigues, to the vast and savage eastern lands, where a young queen raises an army. All the while, in the frozen north, an 800-foot wall of ice precariously protects the war-ravaged kingdom from the dark forces that lie beyond. Kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars, lords and honest men…all play the Game of Thrones. An original series based on George R.R. Martin’s best-selling A Song of Ice and Fire series.
