Dutch slasher classic Amsterdamned comes to Blu-ray for the first time in North America

The canals will run red this August as Blue Underground unleashes Dutch writer/director Dick Maas’ pulse-pounding – and totally unique – 1988 slasher thriller Amsterdamned in a Limited Edition collectors release for the first time ever in North America!

Fans of Maas’ breakthrough shocker The Lift (also being released via Blue Underground as part of a series of Maas films including The Lift remake  Down) know his style. Maas whet his creative beak doing rock videos (most famously, the “Twilight Zone” clip for the band Golden Earring) and his films have music and visual driven affectations and, like his American contemporary John Carpenter, Maas wrote, directed and made music for his films. In Amsterdamned, a half-mad scuba diver hiding in Amsterdam’s labyrinthine canal system embarks on a rampage of gruesome murders, terrifying city officials and leaving few clues for the city’s best detective, who doesn’t suspect that both his new girlfriend and twelve-year-old daughter may be closer than he is to finding the killer.

Blue Underground will release the startling, bizarre, bloody and action packed Amsterdamned on August 29th, featuring the World Premiere of a brand-new 2K restoration from the original negative. The Amsterdamned Limited Edition comes fully-loaded with exclusive Extras, reversible sleeve, and bonus collectible booklet (first pressing only)!
