Dick Cheney interview teased for new Sacha Baron Cohen show

Comedian Sacha Baron Cohen has posted another teaser for his mysterious talk show project for Showtime, which reveals that the master stunt interviewer has landed none other than former Vice President Dick Cheney for what looks to be an insane sit down conversation. Check out the teaser for the Dick Cheney interview below!

Considered by many to be the major architect of the Bush administration from 2001 to 2008, the 77-year-old Cheney will next be the subject of Oscar-winner Adam McKay’s biopic titled Backseat. Oscar-winner Christian Bale will play Cheney, with Oscar-winner Sam Rockwell as George W. Bush, Amy Adams as Lynne Cheney and Steve Carell as Donald Rumsfeld, with the film set to open on December 21, 2018.

There has also been a sighting in the wild of stealth advertising for the show, one of which features the potential title “Who is America?” That title could just be an advertising tag, though.

Da Ali G Show ran for three seasons on both Channel 4 and HBO, and involved segments featuring Cohen doing stunt interviews in disguise as his three signature characters of Ali G, Borat Sagdiyev and Brüno, all of whom eventually received movie spin-offs. The new series on Showtime will reportedly be similar, and feature stunts involving President Donald Trump as well as other celebrities, including a segment with OJ Simpson reportedly shot back in February in his Las Vegas hotel room. At least two episodes have already been produced, although it is not known if Cohen has created new characters or what the exact format will be.

Cohen has a history with Trump, having duped the real estate magnate to do an on-camera interview with a ploy to pitch “Ice Cream Gloves” during a 2003 segment on Da Ali G Show. In the run-up to the 2016 election, Cohen shot a sequence for The Brothers Grimsby involving then-candidate Trump contracting HIV.

The new Sacha Baron Cohen show will premiere on Showtime July 15.
