The ‘UnREAL’ grad will appear in the fourth episode of the cop drama’s fifth season.
Chicago P.D. is enlisting a familiar face for season five.
Chicago Justice star Monica Barbaro is set to reprise her role on the NBC cop drama, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Barbaro’s character, ASA Anna Valdez, will pop up in the fourth episode of the season, titled “Snitch.” The appearance will reunite her with former Justice co-star Jon Seda, who is returning to Chicago P.D. as a series regular for season five after leaving to join the cast of Chicago Justice late last year.
Although Chicago Justice was canceled after one 13-episode season, several members of the legal drama’s ensemble have been able to continue their roles on other series. In addition to Seda reprising his role as Antonio Dawson, Philip Winchester is set to join the cast of Law & Order: SVU full-time this upcoming season when his character transfers from the Chicago State’s Attorney’s office to the New York District Attorney’s office.
Chicago Justice also starred Justified alum Joelle Carter and Rocky‘s Carl Weathers.
When asked earlier this month about any potential Justice reunions on P.D., Seda told THR he was optimistic. “I think they’re well-loved and well-received by the powers that be and Dick Wolf is really good at doing things like that so I wouldn’t be surprised if down the road, there’s some kind of connection to someone else who was on Justice,” he said.
Behind the scenes, Wolf Films has also retained members of the Chicago Justice team. Most notably, showrunner Michael Chernuchin is taking over as showrunner of Law & Order: SVU for season 19.
This will mark Barbaro’s third appearance on Chicago P.D. She appeared twice last season, also as her Justice character. Her other credits include UnREAL, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Hawaii Five-0. She is repped by Innovative Artists and Main Title Entertainment.
Chicago P.D. returns for season five on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 10 p.m. on NBC.
