Birdboy: The Forgotten Children Movie Review

Birdboy: The Forgotten Children movie poster

Capsule Review: A dark and twisted animated film that is certainly not intended for children, Birdboy is one of the most oddly engaging and creatively made films you’ll see all year, even if the story and characters seem to be derived from a drug-fueled trip through Hell.

Set on an island that has suffered a major nuclear disaster and featuring several deranged animal characters, including the silent title character, Birdboy is easy to follow but not as much to understand. The movie thrives on its weirdness and uses finely drawn animation to enhance the experience, even if the story itself bounces around without much cohesion.

It’s certainly not for everyone, but if you’re looking for something weird, disturbed and undeniably one of the best animated movies of the year, look no further than Birdboy.
