Kris Jenner: "Everybody Can Relate to Somebody in My Family"

Kris Jenner shared the choices she made serving as both mother and producer for the episode concerning daughter Kim Kardashian’s robbery in Paris last fall.

“I think the reason why [Keeping Up With the Kardashians] became somewhat of a phenomenon and such a great success is because there’s so many of us,” Kris Jenner told The Hollywood Reporter during the Reality TV Roundtable. “I think people just got emotionally attached and invested.” Jenner is the matriarch, creator, executive producer and star of the hit E! reality series, also starring her six children, Kourtney, Kim, Khloe and Rob Kardashian, and Kendall and Kylie Jenner.

“They’re getting married, getting divorced, having babies… Kourtney pulled Mason [Disick] out of her tummy… I mean, it’s like, the things that go on, you couldn’t make this stuff.” Mason is the eldest of Kourtney’s three children with ex-partner Scott Disick including Penelope and Rein, who are also regularly featured on the series along with Kim’s two children with husband Kanye West, North and Saint West.

“They’ve got really thick skin,” Jenner says of her five daughters. “Kim leads the pack. She’s the queen of the thick skin.”

Kim Kardashian, the second born daughter with the widest international fame, faced her biggest challenge this fall after suffering a brutal assault and robbery in her Paris apartment during fashion week. “So many people felt like they deserved the explanation of what happened because they had for the last decade followed every moment of her life and so then she felt like it would almost be a relief to be able to say it on her terms and explain what happened,” Jenner told THR.
