Arsenio Hall Sues Sinead O'Connor for $5M Over Prince Accusations

Earlier this week, singer Sinead O’Connor made headlines when she accused talk show host and comedian Arsenio Hall for the untimely and unexpected death of musical icon Prince. Now, Arsenio has responded by slapping the woman with a $5 million lawsuit. Hall is suing O’Connor for libel due to the accusations pointed towards him.

In a Facebook post on her official page, Sinead O’Connor accused Arsenio Hall of being Prince’s longtime drug dealer. She also claimed that Hall had spiked her marijuana while visiting Eddie Murphy’s home several years ago. Though Prince’s cause of death has not been confirmed or announced, there have been plenty of rumors swirling that either painkillers or hard drugs lead to Prince Rogers Nelson‘s passing. This was cause for alarm according to Sinead O’Connor, who had this to say in her initial statement.

“Two words for the DEA investigating where prince got his drugs over the decades…. Arsenio Hall (AKA Prince’s and Eddie Murphy’s bitch) Anyone imagining prince was not a long time hard drug user is living in cloud cuckoo land. Arsenio I’ve reported you to the Carver County Sherrif’s office. Expect their call. They are aware you spiked me years ago at Eddie murphy’s house. You best get tidying your man cave.”

As you can see in the post, O’Connor claims to have reported Arsenio Hall to the Carver County Sheriff’s office. Though there is no mention on whether or not the police followed through with the tip. The following day, Sinead posted yet another statement on her Facebook page. This time, she elaborated on her accusations. She explains that Hall invited her to a Grammy after party at Eddie Murphy’s home. The singer decided to forgo the Grammy ceremony, which caused Arsenio to become very upset. And he began acting very maliciously towards her. We’re not allowed to reprint Sinead’s copyrighted story, but you can read the full description in the embed below.

O’Connor claims that Hall felt her Grammy no-show was a direct attack against his character. The incident is believed to have happened in 1991, when Sinead won the Grammy, further provoking the comedian. This lead to Arsenio reportedly plying the woman with laced marijuana and making unwanted advances on her.

Arsenio Hall filed his official complaint with the Los Angeles courts earlier today, May 5. He calls O’Connor a “desperate attention-seeker” and claims that her accusations are nothing but “outlandish defamatory lies.” He goes onto refute all of her claims, stating that the singer has a history of “bizarre, unhinged internet rants.” Arsenio also reported the damaged relationship between Prince and Sinead O’Connor, bringing up an old feud between the two, and the fact that they engaged in a violent fistfight. He also claims that O’Connor spit on Prince and repeatedly told him to go ‘F…Himself.’ The $5 million Arsenio Hall is seeking is for compensatory damages.
