The film, written by Hamid Torabpour, Clint Narramore and Andrew Kightlinger and directed by stuntman Chris Brewster in his debut, will follow two SWAT officers on a desperate search on a college campus overrun by zombies for a man who holds the vaccine to prevent the apocalypse.

Snipes, who is executive producing the film alongside Winter Falls Entertainment, Hamid and Camille Torabpour, is set to star as one of the officers in the film, while Brewster is still casting other roles, reportedly going back to his past as a stunt director to hire stunt men and women to star in the film.

Production start is being eyed for summer in Minnesota, with Nashville-based songwriter Eric Arjesis attached to compose the score for the action horror film.

The 56-year-old action star actually first found fame thanks to the hit 1989 comedy Major League before transitioning to more dramatic work with 1991’s acclaimed crime thriller New Jack City and making his way into the action genre the following year with the box office hit Passenger 57. From there, Snipes went on to star in numerous hit action films including 1993’s Rising Sun and Demolition Man and the Blade trilogy beginning with 1998’s debut entry.

After being sentenced to prison for three years for income tax evasion, Snipes has been working towards finding fame once again in various facets, co-starring in the ensemble action thriller The Expendables 3 and starring in the short-lived NBC action series The Player. He will next be seen in Netflix’s upcoming biographical comedy Dolemite is My Name alongside Eddie Murphy (Tower Heist), which is expected to hit the streaming service sometime later this year.
