CBS Confirms Star Trek: Picard Title, Screens New Footage

During the CBS upfront presentation, the network finally gave it Patrick Stewart’s upcoming Jean-Luc Picard series the name that everyone was expecting. Via StarTrek.com, the series has been given the simple, yet effective moniker of Star Trek: Picard.

You can check out the show’s logo, which notably features the Starfleet insignia standing in for the “a” in Picard’s name, via the official Star Trek Twitter account below.

The network also treated attendees to the first bit of footage from the series. Unfortunately, the footage didn’t give much away in terms of plot details. But it sounds like the former Enterprise captain might have to rebuild his stellar reputation from scratch. According to ComicBook.com, Picard was shown “going unrecognized by a current Starfleet officer.” This screengrab from BuzzFeed reporter Kate Aurthur appears to show some of those officers in the background of the shot.

So far, the series’ supporting cast includes Santiago Cabrera, Michelle Hurd, Alison Pill, Harry Treadaway, and Isa Briones. Hanelle Culpepper will direct the first two episodes and Stewart’s Star Trek: The Next Generation co-star Jonathan Frakes will helm another two installments.

Star Trek: Picard will premiere on CBS All Access later this year. What do you think of the series’ title? Give us your impressions in the comment section below!
