Antoine Fuqua & Chris Evans’ Infinite gets August 2020 release date

Paramount has announced more changes to its 2020 schedule, including that Antoine Fuqua and Chris Evans’ Infinite is scheduled for August 7, 2020, Deadline has confirmed. The feature is an adaptation of the novel The Reincarnationist Papers written by D. Eric Maikranz.

Infinite will go up against an untitled WB event film on August 7 next year, while Coming to America 2, starring Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall, has been pushed from that date to December 18, 2020. Avatar 2 was originally meant to release at that time but has since been pushed back to December 17, 2021, by Disney. Coming to America 2 will be released against Disney’s West Side Story on December 18 next year.

The studio had also previously announced that its Paramount Animation feature, newly titled Rumble, would arrive on July 17, 2020, but the project has now been pushed back to July 31, 2020.

Directed by Fuqua and starring Evans, Infinite is an action/thriller that tells the story of a group of men and women who are continuously reincarnated century-after-century to battle an evil madman bent on world destruction. The fate of the planet, it turns out, may reside with a schizophrenic man who will have to come to terms with the fact that his dreams are memories from his countless past lives.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura (the Transformers franchise) will be producing alongside Mark Vahradian, and John Zaozirny of Bellevue Productions. John Lee Hancock (The Founder) and Ian Shorr (Splinter) are currently attached as screenwriters.

Evans, who has portrayed Steve Rogers/Captain America for the Marvel Cinematic Universe for eight years, is currently starring in his final MCU appearance for the highly-anticipated Phase Three conclusion, Avengers: Endgame, which hit theaters on April 26. He is also set to star in the upcoming ensemble murder mystery movie Knives Out alongside Daniel Craig (Logan Lucky), Lakeith Stanfield (Atlanta), Michael Shannon (The Shape of Water) and Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween), amongst others, from Rian Johnson (Star Wars: The Last Jedi), which is set to hit theaters on November 27.
