Universal Pictures has revealed the release dates for three upcoming projects: DreamWorks Pictures’ The Turning will open on Friday, February 22, 2019; Amblin Entertainment’s A Dog’s Journey will open on Friday, May 17, 2019; and Amblin Entertainment’s Bios will open on Friday, October 2, 2020.

The Turning

For more than 100 years, a deeply haunting tale has been passed down to terrify audiences. Next February, DreamWorks Pictures’ The Turning takes us to a mysterious estate in the Maine countryside, where newly appointed nanny Kate is charged with the care of two disturbed orphans, Flora and Miles. Quickly though, she discovers that both the children and the house are harboring dark secrets and things may not be as they appear.

Inspired by Henry James’ landmark novella, the haunted-house thriller is directed by renowned visualist Floria Sigismondi (The Runaways, The Handmaid’s Tale) and stars Mackenzie Davis (Tully, The Martian), Finn Wolfhard (It, Stranger Things), newcomer Brooklyn Prince (The Florida Project) and Joely Richardson (Red Sparrow, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo).

From writers Chad & Carey Hayes (The Conjuring) and Jade Bartlett, The Turning is produced by Roy Lee (It, The Lego Movie) and Scott Bernstein (Straight Outta Compton, Ride Along 2). Universal will release The Turning domestically and in select international territories.

A Dog’s Journey

Audiences are invited along on A Dog’s Journey, the next chapter of the beloved bestselling series by author W. Bruce Cameron. The family film told from the dog’s perspective serves as the much-anticipated follow-up to the soulful story of one devoted dog who finds the meaning of his own existence through the lives of the humans he teaches to laugh and love.

Directed by Gail Mancuso (Modern Family), A Dog’s Journey is once again produced by Gavin Polone (A Dog’s Purpose, Zombieland). Mancuso directs from an adapted screenplay by Cameron & Cathryn Michon and Wally Wolodarsky & Maya Forbes, based on the book by Cameron. The film from Amblin Entertainment and Walden Media will be distributed by Universal Pictures.

Bios

Tom Hanks stars in Amblin Entertainment’s Bios as Finch, the last man on Earth. An ailing inventor facing his own mortality, Finch builds a robot to keep his beloved dog safe. As the trio embarks upon an epic cross-country journey, the scientist must teach his creation to become “human” enough to take care of its charge…and the beloved pet to accept a new master.

Directed by Miguel Sapochnik (Game of Thrones, True Detective), the live-action film from writers Craig Luck and Ivor Powell will be produced by Kevin Misher (Public Enemies, Miss Bala), as well as ImageMovers Jack Rapke (Cast Away, Flight) and Jackie Levine (Allied), alongside Powell. Academy Award winner Zemeckis (Cast Away, Flight, Back to the Future trilogy), Luck, Sapochnik and Andy Berman serve as executive producers. Universal Pictures will distribute domestically and in select international territories.
