NBC’s coverage out of PyeongChang held virtually even for the third night in a row, as the 2018 Winter Games passed the first week mark on Friday.
Early scores for the middle Friday have it earning another 13.0 overnight rating among households — that’s a cume of NBC and NBC Sports coverage. It’s also a 11 percent improvement from the same night of competition in 2014, compared to just NBC’s coverage.
Friday included the final Super-G run for famed U.S. skier Lindsey Vonn and a redemptive turn for figure skater Nathan Chen. Coverage peaked during both of their events, rising to a 14.8 overnight rating.
The previous night’s early scores ultimately translated to 19.3 million viewers with updated Nielsen ratings that also included streaming. (It’s just 16.2 million if you only count NBC.)
NBC’s 2018 Olympic coverage heads into its second Saturday of competition with an average 22.6 million viewers, trailing Sochi by 7 percent.
